Workshops & Classes

Our group classes & workshops are open to all in the community and are a great way to learn new skills at an affordable rate. Members are $15, and non-members are $25. If you prefer one-on-one sessions, our rate is $75 per hour (discount if you book a 6 month contract with us).

Registration is required to participate in our classes & workshops. No drop-ins please (unless noted it is ok). Payment will be collected upon arrival. Let us know if you don’t see what you are looking for on our calendar (we can teach a variety of subjects at anytime). Current classes and workshops avaialble:

• Free Member Certification Class - NCM offers a free certification class for members who wish to use studio B for DIY creation. Certification is required prior to use. Studio use is only available to members. Certification will be scheduled during our business hours. Please contact us if you wish to be scheduled. YOU MUST BE A MEMBER

• Voice-Over Acting Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is on the 3rd Mondays at 12:30-1:30 pm. It is a hands-on workshop for people just starting out. We will be teaching a variety of techniques for narrative and commercial voice-overs. The workshop size is limited. From this workshop people MAY be invited to join our local Actors Group, where we pull for our projects, as well as our members projects. We pull from this group if paid work comes around.

• Podcasting Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is on the 4th Mondays at 12:30-1:30 pm. It is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching the “how to do a podcast”. It will include both the technical and creative sides of podcasting. The workshop size is limited.

• Cell Phone Filmmaking Workshop - This one hour workshop is on the 1st Mondays @ 12:30-1:30 pm. It is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques using your cell phone for film and video projects. You MUST have a cell phone to participate. Workshop size is limited.

• Presenting to the Camera Workshop - This one hour workshop is on the 1st Tuesday each month @ 3:30-4:30 pm. It is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques for presenting information directly to the camera. Workshop size is limited. From this workshop people MAY be invited to become part of the camera-ready talent pool at NCM.

• Scripted Acting Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is on the 2nd Tuesday each month. It is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques for acting on camera. Workshop size is limited. From this workshop people MAY be invited to become part of the camera-ready talent pool at NCM. This workshop may include you acting in scenes with others.

• Filmmakers Workshop & Meetup - This workshop is on the 3rd Tuesday each month @ 4:30-6:30. It includes the discussion and demonstrations of a variety of techniques and needs for filmmakers. This is an excellent workshop for individuals looking to expand their skills. It focuses on scripted filmmaking. We sometimes have speakers for part of these. They are a great way for people to learn, while also connecting with others. These do have hands-on activities. These also have the small fee and are open to everyone in the community. This one you can just drop-in, no registration required. Please note that entry will not be permitted after 15 minutes of the workshop start time.

• Actors Workshop & Meetup - This workshop is on the 1st Monday each month @ 4:30-6:30. It is a bit different than our one hour, very small acting workshop, where we do some one-on-one coaching. This workshop accomidates a larger group and participants interact with with each other (rather than being individually coached like in our smaller workshops, although yes, there is some coaching involved in this one). We also will sometimes have speakers for part of these. They are a great way to learn, while also connecting with others. This is a hands-on workshop that covers voice and on-camera acting. These have a small fee and are open to everyone in the community. This one you can just drop-in, no registration required. Please note that entry will not be permitted after 15 minutes of the workshop start time.

• Video Activism Workshop & Meetup - This workshop is on the 3rd Monday each month @ 4:30-6:30. It is for people who are looking to connect with others to plan and collaborate on video campaigns. In this workshop people will interact with with each other. We will offer guidance if needed and sometimes have speakers for part of these. They are a great way for people to learn, connect with others, and create concise messaging. These also have the small fee and are open to everyone in the community. This one you can just drop-in, no registration required. Please note that entry will not be permitted after 15 minutes of the workshop start time.
